New groups can be defined in the settings. 

 

Go to System -> Settings -> Resources -> Group.

 

Add a new grup by clicking on "New group". A new line is added at the end of the list. Click on the empty box and enter a name for the group. In "Group type" choose between object, person and room. Learn more about resources here.

Here you can see the newly added group called "Nurse" from the Group type "person".	This group can be assigned to resources now.
